Internationals : Cross-Cultural Ladies Gathering -- Pat Hashemi
December was a special ladies gathering. It was held at Pat Hashemiʼs with a gift exchange. The devotional was translated simultaneously into Farsi and Romanian as we had a large number of both Iranians and Moldovians. The best part was realizing that this group included ladies from many faiths, Muslim, Jewish, Bahi, Hindu, and Christians all fellowshipping together and hearing about Jesus Christ.Read full article: 'Cross-Cultural Ladies Gathering -- Pat Hashemi'

Internationals : A Not So Common Experience
What do Atheists, Agnostics, Protestant and Catholic Christians, Bahais, Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims all have in common?Perhaps not a lot in terms of a similar worldview and conception of God, however for one weekend, individuals from these diverse backgrounds came together for sightseeing, friendship, and inquiry into the Christian faith.
Forest Hills' Ministry to Internationals sponsored a trip to the NC mountains for 62 persons Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Internationals from the international student body at NCSU, and Forest Hills' ESL classes and language mission churches (African, Chinese and Iranian) attended. We enjoyed a beautiful fall day on Saturday touring the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain. Late Saturday night everyone gathered around a campfire for a marsh mellow roast?an ?American? cultural first for many?and songs from around the world. Sunday afternoon provided opportunity for a short tour through the scenic downtown of Blowing Rock.
Saturday night and Sunday morning gave participants the opportunity to hear Christian testimonies and study key bible passages. Christians from 5 different ethnic/national backgrounds?Anglo American, Brazilian, Chinese, Iranian, and Moldovan described how Christ had entered into and changed their lives. Perhaps it was their diverse cultural perspectives that communicated so well. Perhaps it was the sincerity of their testimony to God's goodness. Most assuredly it was the living presence of Christ who spoke through them that moved many of their listeners to tears. The unfailing love of our heavenly Father and the redemptive work of Christ were also clearly presented as participants divided into small discussion groups to study Jesus' parable of the lost son (Luke 15) and the story of a holy of a man named Nicodemus who needed a new beginning (John 3).
