Worship & Proclamation
The purpose of the Worship & Proclamation Council is to lead congregants into the presence of God through weekly worship experiences and encourage worship as a lifestyle. The Worship & Proclamation Council will provide opportunities for service to proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ through sound, video projection, TV, ordinances of worship, and hospitality. The Council will provide leadership, coordination and support for all areas of proclamation and worship. In Mark 12:30, Jesus tells us to "
love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength." This Council seeks to bring people into the presence of God and equip them to fulfill this admonition.
Teams within the council seek to offer service and support for worship experiences by…
- Beginning a database of gifts and talents of those who attend Forest Hills. Areas of interest are drama, monologues, creative writing, musical talents, and other arts.
- Working with the Discipleship and Nurture Council to promote daily lifestyle worship
- Exploring the addition of a contemporary style of worship
- Purchasing silk flowers for use in the worship center
- Providing training in the area of video projection
- Expanding outreach in the Pastoral area
Some of the most important activities of the team have a negligible or small associated cost, such as promoting a daily lifestyle of worship and beginning a database of gifts and talents which might enhance worship at Forest Hills. However, resources are desired for exciting new teams, such as the Visual Ministry Team. In order to maximize the effectiveness of the projection system and the capability to enhance worship, $1200 is needed to provide training for team members and purchase video and web site licenses to access worship material. As we explore the addition of a contemporary style of worship, additional resources may be needed for music and worship tools. The TV Team will identify an additional broadcaster to air the show to a wider audience. This year the baptismal robes are slated to be replaced at a cost of $350 since many are stained and aged.
Many existing teams continue to provide support and service in the area of Worship and Proclamation. Music, baptism, communion, welcoming, usher, and flower teams enhance worship both on Sunday morning and at other opportunities during the week. In particular, many volunteers are stepping up to meet needs in the music area during this transition as we seek to fill the Minister of Music position.
