Mission & Evangelism

Purpose of the Council:
The purpose of the Mission and Evangelism Ministry is to develop and amend, as necessary, a ministry and resource plan for outreach, missions, and evangelism.
This Council will provide opportunities for service and assist people in following their calling to serve in this area of ministry. The council will provide leadership, coordination and support for all outreach, missions, and evangelism efforts at our church. “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28: 19-20

Council Leaders:
Chair - George Ake
Vice Chair - Jay Andrews
Resource Coordinator - Beth Eakes

Summary of the Council’s Team Ministry Plans:
The Mission and Evangelism Council Teams are working in many areas of ministry. The team leaders are meeting and coordinating their efforts.
Teams are discussing compressive plans for mission projects, community outreach/mission, college, internationals, and other areas of missions and evangelism. The following is a summary of our efforts:

The Habitat for Humanity Team will work with twelve churches to build a home in the fall.
International Ministries will develop new opportunities to serve and minister to the international community. These new opportunities will include the Hispanic community.
The Youth Mission Team will provide every youth at least one mission opportunity this year.
The College Ministry will create new entry points and mission opportunities for college students.
The College Ministry will begin a ministry to post-college young people to help them transition into the church.
Community/Outreach, Benevolence, and other related teams will work together to develop a comprehensive plan to serve the community. These teams will focus on serving the
community and connecting people with Jesus Christ.
Mission Project and Disaster Relief teams will coordinate to provide opportunities for service nationally and internationally. These projects will include mission trips,
cooperative response with agencies to disasters (N.C. Baptist Men and others). WMU will provide educational and mission opportunities for women and children.
The Evangelism Team will have listening sessions in the fall with different age groups to determine new and innovative methods to reach people for Jesus Christ.
