Ministries: Children
Jesus pointed to children to illustrate the kind of faith acceptable to the Father. At Forest Hills we point to our children when asked what we treasure most. From the youngest infant totally dependent on adults for her care to the sixth grader ready to enter his teenage years, the commitment of Forest Hills is to provide a caring, nurturing environment where the needs of boys and girls are met.
Building relationships of trust is the foundation for our ministry. Every program and activity is an outgrowth of this fundamental. Through strong relationships we are able to minister to the whole child - meeting his physical, social, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. As biblical concepts are consistently presented to the child, she is able to discover for herself the love of God taught in Scripture and modeled through the example of caring, committed, Christian adults.
Take a look at some of the opportunities we offer boys and girls at Forest Hills:
Sunday School
Each week in Sunday School, boys and girls are taught by Christian men and women who take seriously their commitment to Christ and to the children they teach. Our teaching is age-appropriate, Bible-based, and child-centered.
Our teaching is foundational in nature with once concept built upon another. Bible Teaching for Kids from LifeWay publishing is the curriculum used as a teaching tool in each of our preschool and children's classes.
Missions Classes
On Wednesday nights from September through May, mission education classes for children ages 2 years through 6th grade are offered. Preschool children are part of Mission Friends, elementary aged girls are part of Girls in Action, and elementary aged boys are part of Royal Ambassadors.
In each of these classes, children are presented with information about people who "go and tell" others about Jesus. A vital element of our mission education classes is hands-on mission activities that give children the opportunity of being missionaries in their own world.
Music Classes
On Wednesday nights from September through May, children from 2 years through 6th grade are invited to be part of our children's choir program. Age-graded choirs often lead in worship services on Sundays as well as on special occasions.
Boys and girls involved in children's choirs gain a tremendous amount of musical knowledge and experience. Summer choir camps for younger and older children play an important part in setting family calendars each year.
Safety and Security Policies
Providing a safe and secure environment for children is a priority of Forest Hills. Our safety guidelines are posted for your viewing here on our Web site under the Inside FHBC section.
